Data Department is an applied machine learning and AI consultancy founded in Istanbul in 2013. We work with manufacturers, retailers, distributors and service companies in Türkiye, Europe and the US, and we are measured by one thing: whether a decision in the business got better.
What we are good at
Thirteen years of applied machine learning
We have been building forecasting, pricing, optimisation and customer models since 2013, long before generative AI made AI a board topic. We know which methods survive contact with real data.
Classical ML, optimisation and GenAI under one roof
Most problems need a forecast, an optimiser or a rule more than a chatbot. We use generative AI where it earns its keep and classical methods where they are more reliable and cheaper.
Production, not demos
We deploy on AWS, Google Cloud, Azure or on-premises, integrate with ERP (enterprise resource planning) and MES (manufacturing execution system), and set up monitoring so models stay useful after go-live.
Senior people, no layers
The people who scope your project are the people who build it. When a project needs more hands, we bring in specialists we have worked with for years.
We build teams, not dependence
We have mentored ML squads through the full model lifecycle and helped a technology group grow a 30+ person ML/AI department that built 20+ models across 7 industries. Handover and training are part of every project.

We say when AI is the wrong tool, report every result with the measure behind it, and keep hardware out of scope so we can focus on models, software and integration.

- We work in your environment and under a non-disclosure agreement.
- Nothing built for one client is reused with another.
- For generative AI, we can use EU-hosted or self-hosted models when data must not leave your control.
- We follow KVKK (Türkiye's personal data protection law) and the EU GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) in how we handle personal data.
